Our goal is to help you get the best cup as quickly as possible, with minimal frustration or waste. You don’t need the same setup we use. Think of these in relative terms, not absolutes.

We use three brewers to represent pour-over, immersion, and espresso brewing. If we recommend a finer grind for a Hario V60, most pour-over methods will benefit from a finer grind. If we suggest a stronger ratio for an AeroPress, other immersion methods will likely perform best with a stronger ratio.

MICRON grind settings?!

One micron (1 µm) is one-thousandth of a millimeter. We use these to talk about grind size without being grinder-specific.

Micron measurements describe:
• The peak of the grind size distribution for a given setting
• The distance between grinder burrs, for some grinders
