THE DEETS
This coffee comes to us from Alejandro Martinez, a fourth-generation coffee producer. His farm, San Alfonso, is one of the oldest estates in Veracruz. Itβs 60 hectares and located in Coatepec, Veracruz. Alejandro focuses on growing the highest quality coffee, planting hybrids like Anacafe 14, Obata, Marsellesa, and H16 to produce micro-lots. Alejandro delivers cherry to the APG wet mill, where the coffee is weighed and sorted according to quality. They strive to highlight the coffee's natural sweetness and character using new and traditional processing techniques. Single-estate coffees are naturally fermented in concrete tanks and washed using spring water. The coffee is then carefully dried and prepared for export.
We were fortunate to try several different lots from San Alfonso earlier this year, and all agreed this one was our fave. The predominant aspect we loved about this coffee is its round body and brown-sugary sweetness. It also has a subtle citrusy acidity. Think tangerine, lemon zest, and the slightest floral note in the finish. We've been putting out some face melters, so having a solid coffee like this one is nice when you want a great cup. Enjoy y'all, what a treat.
